The IBG Group participated in the final presentation of the Barcode Wall project—an initiative developed under the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR)—which resulted in an innovative modular wall concept designed to address the construction challenges of the future through efficiency, sustainability, and innovation.
The session marked the completion of a key project milestone, the result of a collaboration among national and international partners who pooled their knowledge, experience, and complementary skills to develop a distinctive construction solution.
The IBG Group was represented by the IBG Innovation Center, DVM Building Solutions, and Conformetal, reinforcing its commitment to research, technological development, and the creation of innovative solutions for the construction sector. Other participants included the University of Minho, the architecture firm OODA Arquitetos (Portugal), MVRDV (Netherlands), and Buro Happold (UK), forming a multidisciplinary partnership that combines academic knowledge, engineering, architecture, and innovation.
Throughout the project, cooperation among the various entities enabled the development of a modular solution focused on improving construction efficiency, sustainability, and application flexibility across different contexts. The Barcode Wall exemplifies how collaborative innovation can accelerate sector transformation, fostering new approaches to construction and industrialization.
As part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan, the project demonstrates the strategic role of collaboration between companies, research centers, and universities in creating solutions that address current construction challenges, thereby contributing to an industry that is more competitive, efficient, and future-ready.
For the IBG Group, innovation stems from collaboration across different fields of knowledge and the ability to transform ideas into practical solutions. Participation in this project reinforces the Group’s commitment to developing technologies and processes that promote construction that is more sustainable, efficient, and aligned with market needs.
